In
1897, Tappan Adney traveled to the Klondike to cover the events for Harper's
Weekly and the London Chronicle. Three years later he published,
"The Klondike Stampede," an insightful first-person account of the gold
rush. He titled this image of a fallen horse along the White Pass trail
"an hourly occurrence."
