Trailblazers and Trendsetters
Many U.S. postage stamps honor American leaders, explorers, inventors,
entertainers, and thinkers, as well as the inventions and achievements that have made history
and changed our nation. Many of those celebrated have shaped popular culture or blazed new
trails in technology and communication. Collectively, the artworks commissioned for postage
stamps create a patchwork quilt of American history and culture.
The people, places, and things depicted in this exhibit are presented in five galleries: Sports, Arts & Entertainment, Transportation, History & Exploration, and Literature.
