I am a museum professional with over 30 years’ experience in museums of history, science, and technology. I have worked mostly as a museum educator working at institutions as the Baltimore Museum of Industry, the Mount Washington Observatory, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History where I was the Director of their Hands On Science Center. I have Masters Degrees in History and Teaching and I recently earned my PhD in History from the University of Florida.

Interests: History of science, history of museums, teaching, running, reading speculative fiction, and animals.
Favorite museum object: John Glenn signature on Project Mercury first day cover. This stamp, and the story behind its first day, is a wonderful peek into science and technology during the Cold War. Plus, the day of John Glenn’s flight and the release of the stamp, February 20, 1962, was also the day my brother was born. So the stamp and first day cover has both intellectual and emotional value.
What I like best about working at the National Postal Museum: I enjoy working with the public and talking to them about stamps and the history of the postal service. Most people are unaware of how deeply both subjects touch both their lives and the history of the United States, not to mention the world. It is always a lot of fun to interpret these topics and re-discover that history with them.
