The Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum hosted a reception on Wednesday, April 6 to celebrate the opening of “Stamps Take Flight,” a new exhibition that uses stamps and other objects with aviation themes to illustrate how stamps are made. Remarks were given by National Postal Museum Director Allen Kane, United States Postal Service Board of Governors Chairman James Miller, United States Postmaster General John Potter, Smithsonian Government Relations Director Nell Payne and Lockheed Martin Distribution Technologies President Judy Marks.

“Stamps Take Flight” features one-of-a-kind and rare items from the United States Postmaster General’s Collection of the United State Postal Service; it also includes objects from the U.S. Bureau of Printing and Engraving, the U.S. Air Force and the National Postal Museum.
