Media Advisory: Opening of "On the Road" exhibit rescheduled to December 23, 2004
The Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum announced today that the opening of its “On the Road” exhibit has been rescheduled due to delays in construction. It is now slated to open Dec. 23.
This presents an intriguing opportunity for anyone who has ever wondered how museum exhibits are created and constructed. From Dec. 2 to Dec. 7, visitors to the National Postal Museum will get a behind-the-scenes look as museum experts bring the exhibition to life in the museum’s atrium. Components of the exhibit include a 1931 Model A Ford postal truck, a contemporary Long Life Vehicle, figures of postal workers in the uniform of their day, interactive features, graphics panels and video.
Curators tours of the exhibit are available to members of the media beginning Jan. 3, 2005 and continuing through the rest of the month.
