Arts: Ernest Hemingway (1999)
a child, Greg Rudd was captivated by the gallery of images that
arrived at his family home each day on the corners of letters
and packages. The art that appeared on postage inspired his interest
in painting and fueled his dream to one day illustrate a stamp.
A gifted portraitist and illustrator, he conveys the essence of
his subjects by depicting them as simply and as gracefully as
possible with passion, color, and composition. He is known for
painting the legends of the sport of golf, which began when he
was commissioned to create a likeness of Francis Ouimet for the
U.S. Postal Service.
