George Washington has appeared on so many stamps that he might seem to defy a fresh approach, but Mark English celebrated Washington’s 250th birthday with clear originality. He began with the traditional profile but added marks of texture, and he transformed the American flag and Washington’s dark collar into eye-catching design elements.
