Bruce Petersen, nativo de Chicago, se graduó de la Universidad Northwestern con una licenciatura en lengua y literatura rusas. Comisionado como alférez en la marina, sirvió en el Pacífico y el Mediterráneo antes de retirarse de la reserva naval con el rango de comandante.

Research Volunteer

Bruce Petersen, a native of Chicago, graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Russian language and literature. Commissioned an ensign in the navy, he served in the Pacific and Mediterranean before retiring from the naval reserve with the rank of commander.

His collecting interests include the Anglo-Boer war, London Bishop marks, Norway and Tristan da Cunha. He has exhibited at BALPEX, COLOPEX and NAPEX and has been awarded gold for his "Anglo-Boer War Prison Camp Mail" exhibit and vermeils for his "Bishops of London" exhibit. He is a member of the American Philatelic Society, the Anglo-Boer War Philatelic Society, the Annapolis Stamp Club, the Royal Philatelic Society of London and the St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha Philatelic Society. Bruce also serves as a volunteer docent at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, DC.
