After announcing the generous donation by Bill Gross last fall, the William H. Gross Stamp Gallery is quickly becoming a reality. This week, the Postal Museum selected two firms to create the gallery: the exhibit-design firm Gallagher & Associates of Silver Spring (gallagherdesign.com) and the architectural and historic preservation firm Cho Benn Holback + Associates of Baltimore (cbhassociates.com Accessed 2010).

Gallagher & Associates will be responsible for taking the objects that the curators have selected for exhibit and displaying them in a fun, interactive and compelling way. They will bring the stories of stamps and mail to life with graphics, signage and educational tools.

Cho Benn Holback + Associates will have the challenge of transforming the infrastructure of the 12,000-square-foot historic lobby and the gallery into a functional exhibition space, all while maintaining the character of this iconic building.

The Stamp Gallery will enable the National Postal Museum to share the stories behind the stamps with the public in a unique and exciting way.
