5-cent Civil Aeronautics Conference Globe and Airplane single

The 25th anniversary of the Wright brothers' historic first powered flight was celebrated with two stamps issued on December 12, 1928. The issues corresponded with the International Civil Aeronautics Conference held in the District of Columbia. The two stamps, a 2-cent red and a 5-cent blue, depict the Wright Flyer as well as a contemporary airplane over the globe. The Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol flank each design.
