2-cent Red Cross single

The 2-cent American Red Cross commemorative, issued on May 21, 1931, observed the organization's 50th anniversary. The design features a Red Cross nurse with a globe and cross, inspired by a poster called 'The Greatest Mother in the World'. The stamp was printed in black, except for a cross printed in red.

Clara Barton founded The American Red Cross in 1881. She served as its president until 1904. She was pictured on a stamp issued in 1948.
