A 3-cent brown violet stamp was issued on July 10, 1940 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wyoming's statehood. The stamp design features the state seal, which is dominated by the central figure of a woman on a pedestal in front of a banner reading 'equal rights'. Wyoming was in the forefront of women's rights in the late 19th century. Various other symbols refer to Wyoming's economic strengths of earth resources and agriculture.
