3-cent Steamship 'Savannah' single

A 3-cent violet stamp issued on May 22, 1944, commemorates the 125th anniversary of the sailing of the Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic. The 1819 crossing from Savannah, Georgia, to Liverpool, England, took twenty-seven days. The design shows the Savannah under steam, with sails furled.
