3-cent Motion Picture 50th Anniversary single

A 3-cent purple stamp was issued on October 31, 1944 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the motion picture industry in America. In keeping with the patriotic fervor of the wartime years, the stamp design presented a scene of an open-air movie show to an audience of armed forces members in a South Pacific setting.
