Unlike any other stamp issued in the U.S. today, Federal Duck Stamps offer freelance artists an unprecedented opportunity to display their work nationwide. Since 1949, when the first Duck Stamp Contest was held, artists have competed for the honor of seeing their entry featured on a stamp. The contest draws hundreds of entries and national attention each year, which further promotes Duck Stamp Sales and their concomitant benefits to wildlife. Designers at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) also share in the experience, both in the overall design and image production. This category includes objects and photographs relating to various duck stamp artists, BEP personnel, and famous duck stamp collectors and art enthusiasts.
