This design focuses on the fatigue of long marches, a shared memory of many Korean War veterans. Recent Korean War stamps have taken a similar approach: A 1999 issuance showed determined soldiers trudging through the snow, and a 2003 stamp of the Korean War Veterans Memorial featured statues of U.S. servicemen on patrol.
