Walt Disney

painting of Walt Disney

Artist: Paul Wenzel
First day of issue: September 11, 1968

Gouache on board

Issued two years after Disney’s death, this stamp was designed while the artist worked for the Walt Disney Company. The rules have changed, and now anyone honored on a U.S. stamp must be dead for at least ten years. The only exceptions are U.S. presidents, who are honored on their first birth anniversary following their deaths.
