The U.S. Postal Service has nearly a half million career employees, more than 200,000 vehicles, approximately 32,000 retail offices and processing facilities across the country. The Postal Inspection Service is mandated to safeguard that massive organization and the millions who use it. Part of that protection service includes an armed, uniformed force of Postal Police Officers (PPOs) who are responsible for providing security to postal facilities.
