The museum's main entrance is located on the corner of First Street and Massachusetts Avenue NE. Other entrances have variable hours.
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison all envisioned a national botanic garden, which became a reality in 1820. The United States Botanic Garden as known today, located southwest of the Capitol, opened its doors in 1933.
