White House

refer to caption
Ireland and the United States jointly issued James Hoban stamps.

Architect James Hoban, a Mason, designed the White House during George Washington’s second term. Washington was also a Mason. Hoban’s design replicated many details found in the neoclassical-style Leinster House, Dublin, built for the Earl of Kildare during the mid-eighteenth century. The Earl of Kildare was the founding Grand Master of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Ireland.
