CIA Cover

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) advises the president in matters of national security. Harry S. Truman, a Mason, created the agency in 1947. A high-ranking CIA agent plays a key role in THE LOST SYMBOL. Also significant in the book, a sculpture titled “Kryptos” by James Sanborn, stands at CIA Headquarters. The statue includes encrypted messages that have been only partially decoded to this day. Today, only its zip code identifies CIA mail.
