These stamps were originally issued on July 16, 1934, in sheets of 200 with a center line terminating in an arrow at the top and bottom. They were perforated and gummed. The reprint special printing was issued on March 15, 1935.
This original special printing has only one inscription:
“To Betty, Ann and Jimmy Farley/This is the second sheet of the issue and it came off the press today, /7/9/34 James A. Farley, Postmaster General”
To the right of this inscription on the bottom selvage appears the autograph “Franklin D. Roosevelt.”
