Mayflower Compact

5-cent Pilgrim Tercentenary The Signing of the Compact stamp
The 5-cent Signing of the Compact stamp was issued December 21, 1920.

The Mayflower passengers went from being fellow travelers to the founding members of a new society, a transplanted England in the New World. The settlers of “New Plymouth” signed the Mayflower Compact, in which they agreed to “combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick,” still recognizing King James as their distant ruler.
