Postal Worker Family
Postal Families
It was a good salary for any clerk. I was a secretary my whole life and I always felt that I was underpaid as a secretary. Our whole family is Postal Career. I have a Grandfather who worked in the Postal Service and he retired somewhere in the 1950’s. He was a carrier. He also was told that they wanted to not have Saturday delivery, well that’s over 50 years ago. The next person in our family was my Uncle Tom who is retired now and he lives near San Francisco-Brentwood California and he was a carrier. Then, I have a sister in Denver who is retired now also and she was a postal clerk and she is the person who encouraged me to join the Postal Service because I used to brag to her about how I got a full hour for lunch and she only got a half hour and then she said, ‘yeah, well how much do you make an hour?’ So that is what convinced me to be in the Postal Service.
