The late Dr. Nicholas G. Carter, a third generation philatelist, specialized in British Empire in Africa and Latin America. He published articles on the Gold Coast and Great Britain and received gold medals at the national level for his exhibits on Nigeria and the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast exhibit (1928 issue) was entered in Washington 2006 World Philatelic Exhibition.
Dr. Carter served as treasurer of the American Philatelic Society, budget director Washington 2006, and member of the Washington 2006 executive committee. He was a life member of the APS, patron ARPL, member APS expert committee (British Empire in Africa). He was also a Fellow, Royal Philatelic Society, London, and a member USPCS, USSS, GBCC, AAPE, CCNY.
Dr. Carter spent his career as an international economist at the World Bank.
