- Description
- This collection consists of 11 field books created by Charles Bendire, originally maintained by the National Museum of Natural History, Division of Birds. These field books contain ornithological and zoological data collected from approximately 1865 to 1896 in various United States localities and in Mexico. Bendire collected birds and eggs, and observed bird nests in Arizona, Oregon, Montana, California, Washington Territory, the east coast United States, and New Mexico. One of Bendire's field books contains notes on reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and fish. Also included is correspondence and a book containing a list of other correspondence.
