Abstract
This volume contains multiple field books by multiple creators. Field books by Alan H. Anderson include 1) SIC #6, 1964. The field book includes notes on the observation, banding, and collection of several species of pelagic birds; hand drawn maps of Baker Island, Sydney Island, Phoenix Island, Birnie Island, Enderbury Island, Jarvis Island, Palmyra Island; and a catalogue of specimens (numbered 1 - 92) that includes species, sex, measurements, and weights. Field books by Kenneth C. Balcomb include 1) Southern and Leeward Islands, 1966. The field book includes notes documenting travel; vegetation; and observations of seabirds, dolphins, porpoises, and whales. Notes also document bird banding and collection; and nest surveying. Several drawings of dolphins and other marine mammals observed at sea are included in the notes. A catalog includes SI numbers (188-5959); KCB numbers (001-089); species name; sex; weight; collection notes; physical descriptions; and some geographical coordinates for collecting locations. Field books by Walter Bulmer include 1) Southern Islands and at sea, 1966; and 2) at sea, 1966-1967. The first field book includes observations of several pelagic bird species, whales, and dolphins; species accounts; and a catalog with numbers 5993-6770; species name; physical descriptions; and some geographical coordinates. The second field book by Walter Bulmer includes observations of pelagic birds at sea; some drawings of birds and bird wings; a diagram of Terns diving to feed on flying fish; and a catalog listing numbers 6664-6674. Field books by David L. Burckhalter include 1) Leeward Islands, 1967. The book includes observations of pelagic birds at sea; species accounts; notes on bird banding and returns; and a hand-drawn map of islands along Pearl and Hermes Reef. Field books by David A. Bratley include 1) Southern Island Cruise #3, 1963; 2) Sand-Johnston, 1963-1964; 3) Sand-Johnston and Midway, 1964; and 4) Sand-Johnston, 1965. The first field book includes notes on seabird observation and collection; species lists; results of a census taken by Jeep on Canton Island; a catalog listing numbers 1-21. The second field book by Bratley includes observations of birds at sea; a small hand-drawn map of cruise course; and bird and nest counts. The third field book by Bratley includes bird banding notes (535-13513 to 753-26262); bird counts; and nest marking data. Field books by Robert Brownell include 1) Midway and Kure, 1968; and 2) Sand-Johnston, 1968-1969. The first field book includes notes on the observation and collection of seabirds and seals.
