- Abstract
- The field book was created for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program Southern Island Cruise 18, March 22-24,1967. The field book by F. Smith and D. Stadel relates to bird observations on Fanning Island [Tabuaeran] in Kiribati and Christmas Island. Includes bird counts listed by type located at the cable station to the end of lagoon side, bird population estimates, observed plants, notes on nesting locations, and nest counts. Lists bird banding returns for Mota Tabu and Motu Apua on Christmas Island [Kiritimati] for March 22, 1967. On Phoenix Island [Rawaki] lists bird banding returns with data, and records age, island location (Christmas or Phoenix), and presence of egg. Phoenix banding lists 534-00701 to 645-06300.
