Object Details
- Summary
- This right glove was used as part of a suit used by astronaut Leroy Gordon "Gordo" Cooper, Jr. for training during NASA's Project Mercury. Prior to the flight missions, all astronauts wore training suits that allowed them to rehearse their missions in close detail and under conditions very close to the actual flight. These dress rehearsals allowed the astronauts to prepare and allow allowed engineers and technician to assure that the integration of human, pressure suit and spacecraft operated as planned.
- NASA transferred this glove as part of a pair and matched with the training pressure suit to the Museum in the late 1960s.
