Double-sided pieced scrap quilt
Object Details
- Description
- Double-sided hand pieced quilt made from a variety of fabrics in muted tones. One side of the quilt features several small pieced blocks. The blocks are a pattern of diagonal stripes and are sewn together with the diagonals oriented in mismatched directions on the top. The other side of the quilt consists of several patches in varying sizes and shapes sewn together. The fabrics used are scraps in several colors, including a significant amount of a white and blue striped cotton ticking. There are mostly cottons, but also wool, linen, and synthetic fabrics. They mostly have woven designs, though there are a few printed stripes and florals. Cotton batting is placed between the two outer layers, which are hand quilted in a grid pattern. The edges of the irregular shaped patchwork side are turned to the pieced block side and sewn down to form the binding.
