US Army uniform pants worn by Charles J. Blackwood

Object Details

Description: US Army Uniform Pants worn by Charles J. Blackwood part of military uniform worn by Charles Blackwood during World War II. The pants are made from beige wool fabric and have straight cut legs that are pressed with a crease down the center front and back. The pants close at the center front waist with six plastic buttons. There are seven self-fabric belt loops around the waistband. The pant halves are connected at the center with a two inch fabric flap on each side from front to back. The inner waistband is a white fabric with six plastic white buttons sewn evenly throughout. The pants have two inset pockets, one at each waist side seam. There are two welted pockets, one on each back the below the waist. The inner lining of the pockets and waist band is made from white linen. The pants are hemmed by hand with an inner 2 ¾ inch hem. The hem stitches cannot be seen on the outside of the pants. On the inner back pocket of the proper right leg of pants written in black marker is [C9500 / MAJ. BLACKW[w obscured by large ink blot]OOD]. Going down the side is the printed stamp in black ink, [1855K2].
