Geometric Model by L. Durkee, Student of A. Harry Wheeler, Two Angular Segments
Object Details
- Description
- This is an early example of what A. H. Wheeler would come to call a platform model. All of these had a rectangular platform, with other segments (often other rectangles) secured to it. These other pieces sometimes penetrated the platform.
- In this model, the rectangular base has two adjacent arcs of circles on it. These are both divided into seven parts and subdivided into quarters in two of the parts. A ring is cut out of the base inside both of the arcs. A folded rectangle fits into each of the ring segments, and may be moved to indicate different angular openings.
- A mark on the bottom of the model reads: L. Durkee (/) Nov 30, '14. Another mark reads: VI-17/
- Not found in Wheeler's catlog of his models.
