Equilateral Prism
Object Details
- Description
- This equilateral glass prism was probably owned and used by Henry Draper, the New York physician who did pioneering work in astronomical photography and spectroscopy. The “J. A. HILGER / 192 / TOTTENHAM COURT ROAD / LONDON W.” inscription in the lid of the case is that of Johann Adam Hilger (1839-1867), a German artisan who moved to London around 1870, set up shop at this address in 1875, and dropped his first name soon thereafter.
