- This Paul Silas basketball card is number 55 in a series of 264 that was manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1972-1973 National Basketball Association season. The front of the card features a posed picture of the Boston Celtics forward on a red background. The card’s reverse features a small cartoon image illustrating the factoid that “Paul went on weight reduction program upon joining the Suns,” as well as a short biography and career statistics.
- Silas played in the NBA from 1964 until 1980, playing for the St. Louis/Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, and Seattle SuperSonics. Silas was a two time All-Star, and won three NBA Championships—two with the Celtics and one with the SuperSonics. Silas went on to become a head coach after his playing career was over, coaching the San Diego Clippers, Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Charlotte Bobcats.
