- Portrait of New York Yankees' manager Joe Torre (b.1940) by artist LeRoy Neiman. Painted onto a baseball, the work was done by Neiman to commemorate the Yankees' World Series championship in 2000.
- Joseph Joe Torre played Major League Baseball for the Milwaukee/ Atlanta Braves (1960-1968,) St. Louis Cardinals (1969-1974) and New York Mets (1975-1977.) A catcher, first and third baseman, Torre retired with a lifetime .297 batting average, 252 home runs and 1,185 runs batted in. A nine-time All-Star, he was named 1971's National League Most Valuable Player.
- Torre began his managing career in 1977 with the New York Mets. In 1982 he joined the Braves, leading Atlanta for two years. Following time spent working in television, he rejoined the managerial ranks in 1990, helming the St. Louis Cardinals for five seasons before joining the New York Yankees.
- Torre managed the New York Yankees from 1996-2007, where he led the Yankees to the playoffs every year, winning four world series (1996, 1999-2000.) He was twice named American League manager of the year during this time.
- After leaving New York, Torre managed the Los Angeles Dodgers for two years (2008-2010.) Retiring from the dugout, Torre served as Major League Baseball's Chief Baseball Officer until 2020. In 2014 he was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
