- A Texas native of Mexican descent, Hall-of-Fame professional golfer Lee Trevino finished his career with 92 professional wins, including 29 PGA championships and 6 Major victories. In 1971, the affable linksman attained golf’s first “triple crown,” winning three national championships in a single season. He represented the United States in the Ryder Cup six times, serving as captain in 1985. Embracing his nickname of “Super-Mex,” Trevino ascended into one of golf’s greatest players during a period when the sport was embracing a new, diverse television audience
