- Football poster is yellow with red printing and a red line drawing of a Native American frying a dolphin in a frying pan. The text reads: "Skin the Fish Super Bowl XVII." The poster represents the Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins, who were to meet in Super Bowl XVII, held on January of 1983 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. The Dolphins were favored coming into the game due to their "Killer Bees" defense which had recorded 12 interceptions in their first three playoff games. However, the Redskins won the game, 27-17 despite being down 17-10 at halftime. The Redskins would score 17 unanswered points in the second half to win the game. The Redskins were quarterbacked by Joe Theismann and the game's MVP was Redskins running back John Riggins who had 38 carries for 166 yards with 1 TD and 1 catch for 15 yards.
- The 1982 NFL football season is also known for being a particularly short season. Due to a 57 day long strike by players, the season was shortened from 16 games to nine games. This was also the first season that the NFL started to keep sacks as an official statistic.
- The poster was produced by The Washington Times. The Washington Times is a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Washington, D.C. The Times was founded in 1982 by Sun Myung Moon who also founded the Unification Church. News World Media Development currently owns the paper.
