- Forward Kyle Rote Jr. played professionally in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1972-1979. Son of National Football League (NFL) Wide Receiver Kyle Rote, the native Texan played for the University of the South before joining the NASL’s Dallas Tornado.
- Rote Jr. would play for the Tornado for every season except his last, which was spent with Houston Hurricane. The NASL’s top scorer in 1973, Rote Jr. finished his professional career with 43 goals. He was a member of the United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT) from 1973-1975.
