Chicago & Northwestern Railroad Owney tag
Object Details
- Description
- The design of this oval-shaped, metal tag is relatively common among the Owney tags. This tag was given to Owney by H. P. Meise, a switchman on the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad line. The back side of the tag reads, “Returning these will suitably rewarded.” The tag is also marked with "1884," which is too early to have been the year given to Owney, but may indicate the year Meise first made the tag.
