Object Details
- Description
- Owney (or Owenie, as this token’s donors spelled his name) received this trinket from the office of Richard C. Jackson, Second Division Superintendent of the Railway Mail Service in New York City. The token notes the special relationship between the dog and the nation’s Railway Mail Service employees, noting that he was a “faithful friend.” There is no notation on the token indicating when it was presented to the traveler. Owney visited New York City on a regular basis during his lifetime, and he could have received it almost anytime during his lifetime.
