Luggage Owney tag

- Description
- Owney received this leather luggage tag from a group of postal clerks on May 15, 1896. The clerks marked their gift on the front side of the tag where the luggage owner’s address would be placed. In addition to noting that the tag was from “postal clerks” they added a wish of “good luck to Owney” to their gift. There is no additional information to indicate where this tag was given to the dog.
