- Description
- A 6 sen Japanese postcard dispatched from Tokyo and carried by the LZ127 Graf Zeppelin on the Tokyo-to-Los Angeles leg of its world flight. Additional 50 sen and 1 yen stamps were affixed and tied with an August 21, 1929, postmark. Postage was overpaid as the postcard rate from Tokyo to Los Angeles was Y1.06. The card also bears the special "First Round-The-World Flight by Graf Zeppelin / Tokio. O.P.O. 1929" cachet in red. A special receiver postmark dated August 26, 1929, with the initials Z.R.W. ('Zeppelin Round the World') in violet was applied in Los Angeles.
