Pony Express patriotic cover

Object Details

Description
Single of the Wells Fargo & Company 2-dollar red stamp, tied by blue "Pony Express San Francisco June 12." Running Pony oval cancel on a 10-cent stamped envelope (USA Scott U33). Cover is cancelled by green "St. Joseph, Mo. Jun 24" circular date stamp.
The envelope was carried from San Francisco, California, to A.W. Canfield in New York, New York, in twelve days during June 1861.
