- This Clara Barton Issue stamp features a portrait of Clara Barton and an image of the American Red Cross symbol. Clara Barton was a teacher, parent clerk, nurse and humanitarian. Inspired by the International Red Cross, Barton founded the American Red Cross to respond to national crises, including war and natural disasters.
