- Description
- This Rough Riders Issue stamp features a statue of William O. (Buck) O’Neill by Solon H. Borglum. The stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of the organization of the Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War. O’Neill served as captain with the Rough Riders, the First United States Volunteer Calvary, commanded by Colonel Leonard Wood and former assistant secretary of the Navy, Theodore Roosevelt.
