- Description
- This National Capital Sesquicentennial Issue stamp commemorates the 150th anniversary of the establishment of National Capital of Washington, DC. This stamp features the Statue of Freedom, located on the dome of the U.S. Capitol Building. The bronze statue, designed by Thomas Crawford, depicts a female figure wearing a military helmet, holding a sheathed sword and laurel wreath.
