- This B&O Railroad Issue stamp commemorated the 125th anniversary of the granting of the charter to the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company by the Maryland Legislature. The B&O Railroad is one of the oldest railroads in the United States. It offered freight and passenger service and was important to westward expansion. The stamp depicts an image of the charter, as well as three stages of rail transportation.
