- This Mt. Rushmore Memorial Issue stamp commemorates the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the Mt. Rushmore National Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The sculpture was designed by Gutzon Borglum; he and his son helped supervised during its construction. Mount Rushmore features the heads of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. They were chosen to represent the history of the United States and because of their roles in its establishment and expansion.
