- Description
- This Engineering Centennial Issue stamp commemorated the founding of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The ASCE is professional organization that represents the civil engineering profession in the United States. Civil engineers are involved in the design and construction of structures such as roads, bridges, dams and canals. The stamp features an image of the George Washington Bridge, which spans the Hudson River from New York to New Jersey, as well as a covered bridge from the 1850s.
