- Description
- This Louisiana Purchase Issue stamp commemorated the 150th anniversary of the signing of the treaty agreement that purchased the Louisiana Territory from France. This territory doubled the size of the United States; the area stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains. The stamp features James Monroe and James Livingston signing the treaty alongside the Marquis François de Barbé-Marbois, the French politician that negotiated the purchase.
